Kelly Rowland is eager to take on more prominent roles after her Mea Culpa experience. She wants more leading lady roles, to be exact - but could her reputation have been tainted with that "Today" show debacle?
Kelly Rowland Inspired by "Mea Culpa" Experience
The Destiny's Child singer, who has a history of playing supporting parts, just starred as a lead character in Tyler Perry's sensual legal thriller, and she is eager to do it again.
According to Music-News, the singer-turned-actress remembered thinking that that would be a prominent weight to carry and felt pressure to do right by the role. Eventually, she felt really blessed to have done it and now craves more.
The 43-year-old portrays Mea Harper, a criminal defense lawyer in the suspenseful film, who takes on the case of an artist charged with killing his lover.
The "Motivation" singer told People that although she was initially nervous about the position, her buddy provided her with the motivation she needed.

"I remember being very nervous when I read the script and I remember thinking about everything that an erotic thriller possesses and that made me very intimidated," she recalled. "And then I had a friend of mine who called me and he said, 'You know, Kel, if it doesn't scare you, what's the purpose of doing it?' And so I literally ran to it. I figured everything out."
Singer-Actress a Diva?
Recently, the singer was accused of being a diva when she allegedly walked out of a "Today" Show engagement just because she did not like her dressing room.
Reportedly, Kelly Rowland abruptly left NBC's "Today" program just minutes before she was scheduled to guest-host the morning show's fourth hour alongside Hoda Kotb, owing to a typical diva grievance about an unsatisfactory dressing room.
According to insiders, the former "Destiny's Child" singer showed up to NBC on February 15th, right before 8 a.m., TMZ said.
Even though she was "in full glam," she and her crew immediately complained about the state of her designated dressing area.
According to sources, "Today" staff members informed Rowland and her team that their dressing rooms were not luxurious suites but infamous "dumpy, glorified closets."
The R&B diva and her group lost their minds when they discovered that the upstairs dressing room was allocated for Jennifer Lopez, who had made a special appearance on "Saturday Night Live" earlier in the month.
Additionally, they took issue with other dressing room suggestions made by "Today" staff members. With seven minutes remaining in the show, Rowland and her group said they would leave and proceeded to do just that.
Since usual anchor Jenna Bush Hager was out of the office, Kotb had to work quickly to recruit a replacement to help host the fourth hour. Rita Ora, a British artist, said she had just minutes to prepare when she was available to step in and host, as reported by Page Six.
Rowland did not speak of the issue, even as some television and entertainment figures tried to determine whether she was within her right to walk away.
