Per The Mirror. reports indicate Singapore's intention behind this move is to encourage fans to gather in the affluent city-state.
During the iBusiness Forum 2024, Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin of Thailand disclosed that Swift had been extended an offer of $3 million per show by the Singaporean government to secure exclusive rights to The Eras Tour.
The singer's agreement to perform six shows under this deal would result in a total payment of $18 million.
Srettha shared details from his discussion with the organizer of Swift's concert regarding a potential deal with the Singaporean government.
According to Srettha, the organizer revealed that hosting the concert in Thailand could prove to be a more cost-effective option for the 14-time Grammy winner.
He added, "I believe she would be able to attract more sponsors and tourists to Thailand."
Srettha said if he had known about the deal with Singapore, he would have tried to bring the shows to Thailand instead, as concerts "can generate added value for the economy."

Amid her inaugural performance at region's iconic National Stadium, Swift shared a heartwarming anecdote about her mother, Andrea Swift, who spent her formative years in Singapore.
The "Shake It Off" singer affectionately recalled the tradition of her mother taking her on nostalgic drives past her childhood home and school during their tours in the city.
"So I've been hearing about Singapore my whole life," the 34-year-old singer-songwriter said.
"To get to come here and play a show this big with so many beautiful, generous people," she added, "it means the world."
