Taylor Swift's health status left her fans concerned, but the singer would not take a break no matter what.
Swifties expressed their concerns to Swift after seeing the singer coughing and struggling to clear her throat during her latest performance in Singapore as part of her Eras Tour. Some said it might be due to her non-stop performance and flights amid her romance with Travis Kelce, but others remained calm as the singer would reportedly not take a break from touring.
Why Taylor Swift's Break Is Not Possible
The Mirror looked back at Swift's past interviews and shows, during which she clearly showed she would never stop performing.
In 2018, she caught a cold during her show at Cleveland's FirstEnergy Stadium and informed her fans about it.
"I have a bit of a cold. One second. Just really quick, can you guys like scream or something so I don't feel weird about this?" she said before pulling out a tissue and blowing her nose off. "You guys did a great job. Thank you."
There have been compilation videos showing all the instances Swift performed while she was sick.
Over the past stops of Swift's Eras Tour, the singer has successfully endured heat, rain and long-haul flights to meet her fans. Her efforts, meanwhile, resonated with what she told Time Magazine when she was named the 2023 Person of the Year.
"I know I'm going on that stage whether I'm sick, injured, heartbroken, uncomfortable, or stressed," she said. "That's part of my identity as a human being now. If someone buys a ticket to my show, I'm going to play it unless we have some sort of force majeure."
Taylor Swift Only Took a Break When Symptoms Were "Out of Control"
While Swift's cough might be a bit manageable now, she previously took a break amid her bout with laryngitis and bronchitis. The health issues led her to miss her shows in 2011.
"I would never cancel if I thought I was physically able to perform these shows. I am so sorry to the fans, but I look forward to seeing you when we come back through your towns, which we will do," she said in a statement at the time.
