Is Kelly Clarkson still single after her divorce from Brandon Blackstock?
"The Kelly Clarkson Show" host welcomed Hoda Kotb to her program on Tuesday, Mar. 5, during which she opened up about her current relationship status.
The singer, who has made headlines for her slimmed-down physique, was married to Blackstock for seven years before calling it quits in June 2020.
Kelly Clarkson Opens up About Dating
Clarkson spoke candidly about how dating is not one of her goals right now. She's maintaining her single status, and noted she is fine with that.
According to the 41-year-old "Breakaway" singer, she has not been on a first date in two years, and apparently does not plan to put herself on the market at this time.
"I am really loving not having a man in my life," she said. "Like, it's just too hard. There's too much. It's too much."
The Grammy-winning vocalist added, "There's all the jobs. Plus the kids. Plus being present for the kids while you're there."
Clarkson and Blackstock ended their romance when the former filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. They share two kids, River Rose and Remington Alexander.
After the filing, the estranged couple got involved in a nasty process but had since settled their legal battles.
Kelly Clarkson Reportedly Did Not Want to Marry Brandon Blackstock
In a published interview (via OK! Magazine) in January, the "Because of You" singer admitted to not wanting to get married when she did it the first time.
"[Brandon] had children, a religious background, and it was important, I think, for him," she said of her ex-husband's belief in marriage. "But I've never been that person. Because I've been through a couple of divorces in my family, I just don't like to put any weight on it. It can happen; it doesn't have to happen."
Per Clarkson, she does not want to marry again until her kids are grown.
As for dating, she said it "sucks and [is[ so awkward."
"Sometimes love is looking at someone and going, 'This is not good for you. This is not good for me.' That's a hard thing to face. But when you do, I think you grow," she went on.
