Fans have been waiting for Zayn Malik to make his big comeback, as it has been three years since the last time he dropped an album. His supporters won't have to wait any longer, as the former One Direction member finally announced his new LP and will release a new song later this week. Check out all the details below.
Taking to his official Instagram account, the singer shared the official album cover of his upcoming record, Room Under the Stairs, which shows his silhouette and what appears to be a blue painting.
His new set will be available for purchase and streaming May 17.
The first single, "What I Am," will be available on Friday (Mar. 15), the same day the album will be available for pre-order.
As of this writing, Malik has yet to share the full tracklist, and also didn't reveal whether there will be guest musicians featured on it.
What Will Zayn Malik New Album Be All About?
Per Rolling Stone, Malike released a statement about his new project last week, saying, "I think the intention behind this album fully is for the listener to get more insight into me personally as a human being -- my ambitions, my fears."
He added that he wanted those things to have a connection with each other.
In a previous report, the album was said to have been written during the years Malik lived in Pennsylvania. Dave Cobb co-produced the project.
"It's raw... It's just me writing this. I didn't want anybody else to be in between me and the music and the music and the people listening to it," he noted.
Zayn Malik's New Album 2024
The outlet noted that Malik's new album will serve as his first record under his new label, Mercury Records.
Co-producer Cobb praised the singer's voice as it blends "love, loss, pain, triumph, and humanity."
"Zayn has really created his own universe on this record, he really has no fear and is speaking straight from his soul," he added.
This will follow Malik's 2021 album Nobody Is Listening. The singer hasn't totally remained quiet since then, as he released several singles, including "Love Like This," a cover of Jimi Hendrix's "Angel," and more.
