Jimmie Allen's accuser has written to the Tennessee District Middle Court to withdraw the lawsuit she filed against the country music singer for rape, sexual assault, and harassment. Yet despite asking the case to be dismissed, Jane Doe is still suing Allen's management firm.
Jimmie Allen Sexual Assault Lawsuit Dismissed
Jane Doe's legal camp confirmed to Variety that they have already filed the paperwork asking the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee to dismiss her lawsuit against country singer Jimmie Allen.
It's important to note that Doe is not asking the court to withdraw the entire lawsuit -- only to remove Allen from it, as she still wants his management firm to be held accountable.
"Fegan Scott can confirm that Jane Doe and Jimmie Allen have reached a mutual accord as to Plaintiff's claims and Mr. Allen's counterclaims and have agreed to dismiss them," the statement read. "The decision reflects only that both parties desire to move past litigation."
Jane Doe is still pursuing her claims against Williams Bowers Management or Wide Open Music, Allen's music management firm, which has employed Jane Doe as a manager.
Jimmie Allen Sexual Assault Lawsuit Explored
According to Jane Doe, she was "manipulated and groomed by Allen into an abusive sexual relationship." (via Billboard)
The alleged abuse began when she was with Allen in Los Angeles when the singer was invited to become a celebrity guest on "American Idol." Doe claimed that she was "incapacitated and incapable of giving consent" during a sexual encounter they had, and she "lost consciousness and awoke naked in her hotel room several hours later, with Jimmie Allen insisting she take Plan B as soon as possible."
Allen denied any wrongdoing and publicly apologized to his wife after the lawsuit made news.
Allen pointed out that he had a sexual relationship with Jane Doe for more than two years, and only after she stopped working with him did she pursue a legal complaint against him.
"During that time, she never once accused me of any wrongdoing, and she spoke of our relationship and friendship as being something she wanted to continue indefinitely. Only after things ended between us, did she hire a lawyer to reach out and ask for money, which leads me to question her motives....," Allen said in a statement.
