Taylor Swift Effect: Swifties Make Static Noise From New Album Top the Charts

Swifties are on a different level, truly.

Even in quiet, Taylor Swift fans can hear her masterpieces and propel them up in the charts.

White Nose Effect

On March 18, an eight-second silent video from Taylor's new album The Tortured Poets Department shot to the top of the iTunes Top Videos ranking.

The video, "All's fair in love and poetry," included a backdrop with a description that Taylor shared in February when she announced the next album, hinting at the album's theme even though it didn't feature any vocals.

"And so I enter into evidence," the blurb can be read. "My tarnished coat of arms / My muses, acquired like bruises / My talismans and charms / The tick, tick, tick of love bombs / My veins of pitch black ink / All's fair in love and poetry.../ Sincerely, the Chairman of the Tortured Poets Department."

Even Swifties are aware of how unique they are. One joked on X, formerly Twitter, "My favorite thing about Swifties is we can make static noise go number 1 like it's nobody's business."

The day after she announced this album, Swift unveiled the official tracklist already, which encouarged many Swifties to theorize about the titles.

Side A includes "Fortnight," "The Tortured Poets Department," "My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys," and "Down Bad." The songs on Side B are "So Long, London," "But Daddy I Love Him," "Fresh Out the Slammer," and "Florida!!!."

Side C includes "Guilty as Sin?," "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?," "I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)," and "loml."

The album's final side features "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart," "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived," "The Alchemy," "Clara Bow," and a bonus track titled "The Manuscript."

Meanwhile, even before this new album comes out, Swift is achieving one milestone after another.

Taylor Swift Achievements

About three years ago, Taylor Swift began selling remastered versions of her first six albums under the label Taylor's Version. Since then, she has completed four initiatives that have all turned into enormously successful international businesses.

They have all consistently produced huge hits and made excellent sales.

This week, one of Swift's re-recordings marks a significant first for her. "Is It Over Now? (Taylor's Version) [From The Vault]" is her new number one song.

From her 1989 (Taylor's Version) album, the single shoots to the top of the Pop Airplay and Adult Pop Airplay charts.
