JoJo Siwa is ditching the hair bows and rainbows to favor something more age-appropriate. The Dance Moms alum is reintroducing herself to the world with a brand new sound and song, "Karma."
According to Pop Crave, the 20-year-old singer-slash-dancer began teasing her first adult single through a 17-second video uploaded on all her social media platforms; it includes several clips of Siwa dancing and getting ready behind the scenes as the chorus of her upcoming song plays in the background.
However, Siwa's rebranding received mixed reviews from her fans and netizens, who compared the song to Taylor Swift's of the same name. Many Swifties shared GIFs and pictures from Swift's music video featuring Ice Spice and noted that Siwa "will never be Taylor Swift."

Siwa used to cater to a younger audience, but since she is getting older, she has been expressing her interest, shifting towards something appropriate for her age instead.
According to reports, the "Boomerang" hitmaker stopped wearing her bow in 2021, which was the first sign of her transformation.
"The following content is not made for children and may be disturbing or offensive to some viewers," Siwa posted on Instagram. "May contain sexual themes, violence, strong language, traumatic scenarios, and flashing lights."
JoJo Siwa Opens Up About Sexaulity, Love Life
This is not the first time Siwa has been put under the spotlight and scrutinized for announcing a major change in her life.
In 2021, the "Every Girl's a Super Girl" singer revealed that she is part of the LGBTQIA+ community.
"Personally, I have never, ever, ever been this happy before and it feels really awesome," she said at the time. "I've been happy for a little bit now. It's just so, so, so awesome."
In a new interview with People magazine, Siwa opened up about her "messy" dating life, which greatly influenced her rebranding and transformation.
"So to make this transition while being true to myself, while being artistic, has been interesting to figure out," the "Nobody Can Change Me" singer said.
Siwa, born Joella Joanie Siwa, is an American singer, dancer, actress, and entrepreneur. She rose to prominence after joining the reality show Dance Moms in 2015 alongside her mother, Jessalynn Siwa.
She was included in the 2020 list of TIME's 100 Most Influential People in the world.
