Boyz II Men Cannot Collaborate With New Artists: 'They're Not Really History Guys'

Despite their impressive resume, Nathan Morris revealed that new artists remain hesitant to collaborate with Boyz II Men.

Boyz II Men is set to captivate audiences with a full band performance, showcasing all their classic hits in an upcoming tour. Within the current lineup of the American R&B trio are Nathan Morris, Shawn Stockman, and Wanya Morris.

Boyz II Men has collaborated with iconic pop music figures such as Mariah Carey and Michael Jackson. When asked about potential future collaborations, Nathan expressed that contemporary music artists do not seem as interested in partnering with the group.

The Disconnect Between New Artists and Boyz II Men

Speaking with The Sun, he said, "It's more so whatever artists would want to work with us; it's tough in this society."

The 52-year-old singer went on to say, "Unfortunately, many younger artists tend to feel that they have it all together and don't really need a whole lot, you know."

"They're not really history guys, and that was yesterday, and I'm the new thing today."

"So it really all depends on their mentality, so it's up to them for the most part."

Echoes of History

Throughout their decades-long career, the R&B stars have become accustomed to performing in front of large audiences and notable individuals. Sharing their experiences, Nathan mentioned, "We've had the honor of performing for distinguished figures such as the pope and the prince of Saudi Arabia, among others, throughout the years."

One notable performance occurred in 1995 when the group captivated over 50,000 attendees during an outdoor mass for Pope John Paul II in Baltimore.

Greeting the cheering audience from his Popemobile, the ex-pontiff acknowledged the crowd as Boyz II Men serenaded them with their chart-topping song, "Gratitude."

Boyz II Men transitioned to a trio in 2003 following the departure of Michael McCary due to health concerns, rising to fame in Philadelphia and celebrated for their touching songs.

Gaining worldwide recognition with their smash hit "End of the Road" in 1992, the band made history by holding the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 charts for an unprecedented thirteen weeks.

Following in the footsteps of music legends Elvis Presley and the Beatles, Boyz II Men accomplished a rare feat by replacing their chart-topper with "On Bended Knee" in 1994.
