Fifteen years since his death, Michael Jackson's estate is still being fought over by his family.
Tensions and drama erupted when son Blanket Jackson, commonly known as Bigi, filed a motion to block his grandmother, Katherine Jackson, from funding an undisclosed legal battle.
Michael Jackson's Mother Wasting Estate Money
According to TMZ, Bigi claimed that Katherine had received more than $55 million from Michael's estate since he died in 2009.
Page Six also noted that the money Katherine has been receiving is used to fund her legal expenses. She was believed to have received over $33 million in cash from a $160,000 monthly allowance.
It was also noted that the estate's money had also been used for home renovation, which cost $15 million, and that she employed a private gardener, chef, and security personnel.
Why is BIgi Jackson Blocking Katherine Jackson?
TMZ pointed out that the Michael Jackson estate executors are publicizing the deal to prove that Katherine can sufficiently fund her legal expenses in an undisclosed legal battle. Page Six noted that it could presumably be a legal battle with Sony Music in acquiring Michael's music catalog.
Bigi was previously on his grandmother's side during the undisclosed legal battle. However, Bigi switched sides when Katherine filed an appeal and used the estate's money to pay for it.
Michael Jackson's Kids Wary of Katherine Jackson?
After Michael Jackson's death, all three of his children -- Prince, Paris, and Bigi -- went into the care of Katherine.
In an interview with Willow Smith in the Red Table Talk, daughter Paris revealed that her life turned around because of how her grandmother raised them.
Growing up, they were raised in a Jehovah's Witness household where they didn't celebrate birthdays or Christmas.
"I'm still very close with my brothers, and I see my family during family reunions, and I tell them all the time, 'If you wanna call me, call me. I've got love and respect for all you guys," she said. "I just saw my cousins for Thanksgiving and Christmas, even though we don't call it that because a lot of them are Jehovah's Witnesses [who don't celebrate holidays or birthdays], so we're just like 'family reunion during the holidays'."
