Taylor Swift's highly anticipated album, The Tortured Poets Department, is shrouded in mystery, yet to be unveiled. Jack Antonoff, too, is keeping his lips sealed, adding to the anticipation until the release date.
According to Page Six, the Grammy Award-winning producer abruptly ended an interview with NRC, a Dutch news outlet, when he was asked about Swift's new album.
"You know I don't talk about that. If you're looking for clickbait, you've come to the wrong place. Thank you for this conversation," Antonoff said before hanging up.
The "Cruel Summer" hitmaker and the Bleachers vocalist have been pals since they collaborated on the song "Sweeter Than Fiction," which was released in 2013.
Jack Antonoff Talks About Collaborators Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey
In the interview, Antonoff shared what it is like producing music alongside some of the music industry's biggest stars, like Swift and Lana Del Rey.
"I don't see it as producing. I create music with my friends. It comes as it comes," he explained. "I'm not the kind of producer to bark commands from behind a mixing board.
"I involve myself in the music itself; the way you can steer the creative process ... Being able to listen to each other well is one thing. The artists I work with trust that I can help them make their music better."
Independent notes in their report that he has worked with Swift on several of her albums; he is credited as a producer in her 1989, Reputation, Lover, Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights albums.
He was also there for the re-recordings of her other albums, Fearless (Taylor's Version), Red (Taylor's Version), Speak Now (Taylor's Version), and 1989 (Taylor's Version).
Jack Antonoff Defends Taylor Swift
This is not the first time Antonoff has defended Swift from people who try to pry about her life and question her career.
"I'm a little b***h sometimes," the producer confessed in an interview. "But you come after my friend Taylor, you're toast to me."
While he is yet to confirm his involvement in the upcoming album, Swifties thinks the "You Belong With Me" singer enlisted the help of her pal again; after all, their last project, Midnights, earned the singer her 13th Grammy Award.
Swift announced The Tortured Poets Department will be released on Apr. 19.
