Tyla rose to prominence in 2023 following the release of her chart-topping hit single, "Water," for which she won a Grammy Award.
"I was in such shock," the 22-year-old singer recalled. "It's something that a lot of people strive toward and want to win at least once in their lifetime. And I'm so blessed to have received one so early in my career."
All eyes and ears are on her as she releases her highly anticipated self-titled debut album and the subsequent announcement of the tour in support of it.
However, according to Billboard, much to the dismay of her fans, Tyla admitted that she cannot due to "an injury that's tragically worsened."
"It's difficult because I want to go. It's the moment that I've been waiting for," the South African singer continued. "It's not an easy decision, but it's the right decision."
Tyla Plots Future Moves Following Groundbreaking Success
While she cannot physically go on tour to promote her music and hone her craft, Tyla is not backing down, and in fact, she is already planning her next move going forward to expand her reach through the music sphere.
She plans to do so by letting her music do all the work: "Pop, R&B and then obviously amapiano and Afrobeats because that's where I'm from, that's the sounds of home.
"I've always just wanted to mix it all together, and I've gotten to a place where I'm happy with the way it sounds," the singer told Reuters.
She also expressed interest in tapping into the KPOP fanbase by collaborating with Lisa from Blackpink.
