In the market for a new home? If around $7 million fits your budget, Flea, bassist of rock band the Red Hot Chili Peppers, just might have the listing of your dreams.
Flea, (real name Michael Balzary), is currently selling his stunning Southern California property for a whopping $6.9 million. The Los Angeles-area property's original house structure was built in 1953 and designed by Richard Neutra, a well known architect who also designed the iconic Kaufmann Desert House in Palm Springs, Calif. The home was originally designed for Neutra's secretary, Dorothy Serulnic.
The home's inside is mostly gray and evokes a modern style. The exterior is known for its unusual, "seven-sided futuristic structure." This structure was descriibed as a "minimalist vortex of raw concrete" by California Home Design.
The beautiful home has an expansive view, complemented by its large glass windows, and rests on a sprawling six acres. The expansive property has been described as an "architectural compound," and boasts a 50-foot pool, multiple gardens, a stone fireplace, an outdoor culinary space, a wooden cabin and more. There's room to relax, cook, entertain, jam out -- anything you want to do.
The home also offers five bedrooms and five bathrooms across its landscape. The home oozes "future" with its minimalist gray and blue tones. The title "compound" is quite apt for such an impressive, sprawling space. It's easy to imagine getting lost in such a large space!
Outside of real estate, Flea has been having a successful year. The Red Hot Chili Peppers dropped their thirteenth, most recent album, Return of the Dream Canteen, in April, 2022. The record was a follow up to 2022's earlier Unlimited Love. Rick Rubin helmed the production side of the albums, which both debuted at No. 1 in several countries.
The two albums led to the Red Hot Chili Peppers being the first rock 'n' roll band in nearly 20 years to have two No. 1 albums in one year. The last group to earn this status, System of a Down, did so in 2005.
The rockstars are currently on their Global Stadium Tour, which began in June 2022 and runs until Jul. 30. The tour has raked in an impressive $300 million-plus.
Flea's house was originally listed for $9.7 million a little over a year ago. However, the property has seen the prices drop as the years pass. Flea lowered his listing to $8.8 million before going to $7.9 million. The house was last sold in 2018 for $4.2 million.
