Gwen Stefani admits some deep insecurities over her marriage to Blake Shelton. She said these feelings propelled her to write "Purple Irises," the song she and her very husband duet on and released a hot music video of them together to boot.
This admission comes after months of speculation that something is off with her and Blake Shelton's relationship.
While they have tried to deny such speculations from time to time, culminating into this duet and music video collab to hush all the allegations, Stefani's admission now means that yes, there was some form of trouble brewing within their romance.
Gwen Stefani Shares 'Purple Irises'
According to the US Sun, the true significance of Gwen Stefani and her husband Blake Shelton's "Purple Irises" love duet has been made public.
The hitmaker for "Hollaback Girl," along with 47-year-old Blake, released a new music video last month that goes into detail about the song's writing process.
"I was on my way to a session and it hit me," the artist, 54, said of the new song in a shocking Instagram video.

"It was like, Purple Irises. That's the song."
Gwen admitted that the love song, sung by her and her husband, is all about her insecurities.
"And I actually wrote, put it in my phone, and drove into the driveway and went in and started writing this song about being insecure," she explained.
Gwen went on to further explain that her insecurities stemmed from her age and looks, compelling her to think it is possible that someone else can get between her and Blake Shelton.
"I knew the day I wrote Purple Irises I needed to be truthful to myself and write this song about, I'm getting older, I don't feel pretty," Stefani said.
She said she asked herself, "If I don't feel pretty, how could someone else think I'm pretty still? What if somebody tries to take my love away from me?" she continued.
She said the song was quite intentional in sharing to the public how she feels. "I really wanted to show how insecure I could feel," she said.
Blake Shelton Agrees to Gwen Stefani Duet
Gwen claimed that after writing the song, she played it for Blake and asked if he would sing along. She half-expected him to say no.
Shelton was a country singer, and Gwen was a pop singer, so she knew they were very different stylistically. But she said it all "made sense in her brain."
The creator of GXVE stated that she has always wanted to collaborate with her husband and that she sees this as a part of her "dream fantasy world."
The couple's duet played acoustically during the Instagram video.
