The tracklist for Taylor Swift's The Tortured Poets Department has her fans in a tailspin, particularly the track entitled "LOML."

Given Swift's way with words, fans are intrigued to find out what the acronym stands for.

"LOML" Meaning: Loss of My Life?

While Swifties are unaware of the song's lyrics or style, some said the title "LOML" is probably short for "love of my life."

Other fans, on the other hand, speculate that it could also mean "loss of my life," which has Swifties questioning everything.

If the song is about Travis Kelce, maybe "love of my life" would make sense. If it is about Joe Alwyn, then maybe "loss of my life" is more apt. But then, given how she is already with Kelce, any of the two can be quite jarring.

If she's singing about Joe Alywn being the loss of her life, does that mean the level of love she has for Kelce does not compare?

TTPD's 12th song was given an explicit label on Apple Music. One fan responded via X: "Loml can mean 'love of my life' or 'loss of my life' or something entirely different and unhinged, and oh god, I'm having a breakdown."

Another fan pointed out that Swift's choice of all lowercase characters for the track's style could suggest a more gloomy tone.

Taylor Swift's New Album 2024

Others decided Swift was too genius to make "loml" mean either of the two obvious choices. Some said the song might not even be a romantic one.

"If 'loml' ends up standing for 'love OR my life' I swear on all deities I will FIGHT," one fan wrote on social media, theorizing that Swift could be battling between choosing herself or her partner.

Other contenders for the possible meaning are "loss of my love," "losing only my love," "lonely over my lover," or "living only my life."

Although Swift has not officially disclosed the inspiration behind TTPD, many have theorized that it has to do with a breakup-more especially, the breakdown of her romance with 33-year-old Alwyn, whom Swift dated from 2016 until the beginning of 2023.

Theirs was indeed a long-term relationship, so a whole album devoted to that era is understandable.

The rumors were further fueled by the TTPD songs "So Long, London," "I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)," and "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart," especially since Alwyn is an Englishman.

On Friday, April 19, the Tortured Poets Department will finally be made available, and all these speculations may be laid to rest.
