To celebrate the upcoming reissue of George Harrison's first six solo albums, TBS host Conan O'Brien has just announced plans to dedicate the week of Sept. 22 – 25 to the late Beatle, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
George Harrison: The Apple Years 1968-75 will be made available on CD and digital download this coming Sept. 22.
The artist's first six solo albums consist of: Wonderwall Music, Electronic Sound, All Things Must Pass, Living in the Material World, Dark Horse and Extra Texture (Read All About It).
During that week (beginning on the day of its release), O'Brien will invite in the likes of Norah Jones, Beck and Harrison's son, Dhani Harrison, to perform live versions of a number of the former Beatle's oh, so celebrated tunes.
The reissue covers the extensive work the guitarist and singer-songwriter did for The Beatles' Apple Records and will include a DVD that holds a never-before-seen 7-minute film along with an introduction by his son, unpublished photos and essays by Kevin Howlett.
THR notes that George Harrison: The Apple Years 1968-75 is to be a completion to 2004's The Dark Horse Years 1976-92.
George Harrison passed away back in November 2001 at the age of 58 years old.
Be sure to check out CONAN on Sept. 22 at 11 p.m. on TBS for the start of the George Harrison Week tribute. Or, just watch every night at 11 p.m. to see O'Brien do his thing. Your choice, of course. But we suggest you tune in.
