The sons of The Beatles legends Paul McCartney and John Lennon teamed up for a new song.

James McCartney and Sean Ono Lennon have released their new song, "Primrose Hill," which they also co-wrote. It follows the arrival of The Beatles' latest song, "Now and Then," decades after the band's disbandment.

James McCartney, Sean Ono Lennon Share Details About Their Single

Released on April 12, "Primrose Hill" has uploaded to YouTube via James' official channel.

"I had a vision as a child in Scotland, on what was a lovely summer's day," James said on X. "Letting go, I saw my true love and saviour in my mind's eye. 'Primrose Hill' is about getting the ball rolling with me & finding this person."

Meanwhile, James uploaded a photo of himself with Sean on Instagram to announce the single.

He wrote, "With the release of this song it feels like we're really getting the ball rolling and I am so excited to continue to share music with you. Enjoy the song and be sure to enter the 'Primrose Hill' Music Video Contest via the link in bio, deadline for entry is next week!"

Paul also promoted the track by sharing it on his X account.

Meanwhile, James opened a contest and asked couples to share videos while the song plays in the background. Winners who submit their entries before and on April 19 will be featured in the official video for the song.

James McCartney, Sean Ono Follow in Their Father's Footsteps

Both James and Sean have followed in their fathers' footsteps.

For James' part, he contributed to recording sessions for Paul McCartney's Flaming Pie and Driving Rain. He also appeared in Linda McCartney's 1998 release, Wide Prairie.

In 2010, James launched his solo career by releasing EPs before completing his debut album, Me. He also released The Blackberry Train in 2016 before going on a hiatus.

Previously, there were reports that The Beatles' children would reportedly form a band. However, Zak Starkey debunked the idea of playing with James, Sean and George Harrison's son, Dhani.

"If we had spent 3 years sleeping on flea infested mattresses in the back room of a Hamburg club it might have chemistry," he responded to a comment. "But we have been swaddled in silken robes in houses so big that it's too far to go and make a piece of toast -- seen?"
