DJ Mister Cee's cause of death has been determined days after his passing.
The famed American DJ died on Wednesday, April 10, at the age of 57. Radio station Hot97 confirmed the news during its episode at the time.
Mister Cee's family has since released a new statement revealing what exactly led to his death.
DJ Mister Cee's Cause of Death Revealed
According to the statement the bereaved family sent to AllHipHop, Mister Cee - born Calvin LeBrun - passed away due to "diabetes-related coronary artery/kidney disease."
"On behalf of the Lebrun, Wilson, Calixte families we want to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support for our brother, uncle, nephew Calvin 'DJ Mister Cee' Lebrun in the wake of his untimely passing," the statement read. "It's a huge loss for our entire family, the borough of Brooklyn and the entire Hip Hop Community."
The family continued, "The Medical Examiner of NYC determined that his cause of death was diabetes-related coronary artery/kidney disease. Details about the public funeral service will be announced shortly. We ask that you please respect the family's privacy during this extremely difficult time. Thank you."
Mister Cee's colleagues, friends and fans took to X to pay tribute to him and express their heartbreak after the loss.

Remembering Mister Cee's Career, Legacy
Mister Cee established his career as a DJ, and one of his most famous works was Throwback at Noon show on Hot97.
He also played a huge role in launching The Notorious B.I.G.'s career after he was introduced to the hip-hop legend. They worked on a demo before meeting Sean "Diddy" Combs.
"The plan was we were going to redo the basement demo that he and 50 Grand put together," Cee told WBLS 107.5. "Big was very shy. He would always talk with his head down and say, 'Yo man, don't be promising me nothing, man. If you say you're going to do something, do it.' And I'm like, nah, we're going to redo the demo."
Mister Cee was also known for his DJ work for Big Daddy Kane and serving as the associate executive producer on Biggie's debut album, Ready to Die.
Before his death, he became part of Audacy's 94.7 The Block.
