The almost 35-minute video obtained by Law & Crime Network documents the police's encounter with rapper GloRilla, whose formal name is Gloria Hallelujah Woods when she was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on Apr. 16, 2024, in Gwinnett County in Georgia.
The first five minutes of the video show how the police officer apprehended the female rapper before she finally talked to her calmly the second time around. TMZ initially reported the arrest, which says that the officer claimed that she smelled the stench of the alcohol just from the windows while talking to GloRilla; the first few minutes of the arrest, body camera footage shows that, too.
When asked how much alcohol she had consumed, GloRilla brushed off the question and maintained that she was "okay" despite being intoxicated.
At one point during the conversation, GloRilla tried to evade arrest by trying to shine her celebrity status on the police officer.
"Never heard of me though?" GloRilla asked, but the police officer wasn't fazed nor knew who she was. "You don't know who I am?"
After the officer asked her to "enlighten" her, she dropped the conversation and said: "No, you still gon' pick on me. It don't matter who I am."
The officer also conducted a field sobriety test on GloRilla, making her do an eye-follow test, walk and turn, and even ask her to walk in a straight line.
GloRilla Asked to Pee After Being Arrested
In the police report obtained by AllHipHop, the officer who arrested GloRilla revealed that The rapper, apart from refusing to go under a breathalyzer test, also maintained that she could drive properly despite being under the influence.
"I asked Woods how much she had consumed and what beverages she had consumed," the officer wrote in the report. "However, Woods continued to relay that it does not matter and she was good to drive." She even said that GloRilla spoke in "sentences that were not always making sense."
Just as she was arrested, she asked the officer if she could pee on the side of the road, but she was rejected.
GloRilla was booked for driving under the influence, having an open container, and failing to obey a traffic control device. After spending some hours at the Gwinnett County Jail, GloRilla was released on a $1956 bond.
