Swifties are panicking on social media because several videos on TikTok are surfacing, showing record stores displaying a certain Serpentine album being placed beside Taylor Swift's upcoming The Tortured Poets Department.
As the buzz for Reputation (Taylor's Version) grows, more and more fans believe and think that Swift will do a double album release on Friday.
Is Taylor Swift Releasing' Reputation (Taylor's Version) As 'Serpentine'?
A TikTok video has gone viral showing that Target is displaying price tags for both The Tortured Poets Department and a relatively unknown Serpentine album. Several other record stores have shown similar listings and name tags on their shelves.
Notably, no major music artists will release an album titled Serpentine physically this Friday, so many Swifties believe that the only practical reason for record stores to do that was that Swift is indeed releasing Reputation (Taylor's Version).
"Maybe Serpentine is the 2nd album to reputation?" a fan commented on TikTok.
"Remember when she said that she picks codenames for albums that are the same number of letters as the album? ex. for folklore - woodvale? well serpentine is 10 letters and guess what else is," another user pointed out, emphasizing that the word "serpentine" contains the same number of letters as "reputation."
Perhaps the most glaring clue about Swift's alleged choice of words to mask the upcoming album is the very definition of the word. Notably, Swift's Reputation era is being represented by a slithering snake, which has been apparent in several of her music videos and even in her costumes and set design on both the Reputation World Tour and The Eras Tour.
"Ok ok.. here me out. What if it's not reputation TV, but a whole Reputation 2 with vault songs only. So we get the love and breakup at the same time. A double album drop," another speculated.

Taylor Swift's Alleged' Serpentine' Album Only A Version of 'The Tortured Poets Department'
However, one TikTok user claimed that upon scanning the barcodes of the alleged Serpentine album, they were just redirected to The Albatross bonus track of The Tortured Poets Department on Swift's website.
Meanwhile, an alleged Target employee claimed that sometimes the names they put on the price tags are only placeholders before they would receive the actual album on the day.
Another Swiftie even theorized that it might be a poetry companion book alongside The Tortured Poets Department.
