Taylor Swift 'The Tortured Poets Department' Billboard 200
Luminate's initial numbers on Swift's TTPD revealed that on its first day alone, the album has already sold 1.4 million copies on traditional album sales. The figure alone is bigger than Swift's 1989 (Taylor's Version) opening week traditional album sales, which only raked 1.359 million.
So far, this marked Swift's biggest sales week for any album in the United States for her entire music career.
Billboard has hailed TTPD as the sixth-largest sales week for any album in the modern era since Luminate started tracking sales in 1991. Adele's 25 emerges at the top of the list with 3.378 million units, NSYNC's No Strings Attached in 2000 raked in 2.416 million, while the boyband's Celebrity garnered 1.878 million in 2001. Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP is at the fourth spot and the No. 1 on all Hip-Hop albums with 1.76 million, while Backstreet Boys' Black & Blue closed in at 1.591 million in 2000.

Taylor Swift 'The Tortured Poets Department' Sales, Streaming Numbers
TTPD becomes Swift's seventh album that has sold at least a million copies in its first week.
The first of her albums to reach the million-hitters club was Speak Now, followed by Red, the original 1989, reputation, Midnights, and 1989 (Taylor's Version).
Comparatively, streaming TTPD has also bolstered the tracks' phenomenal numbers. On its first day of streaming alone, the album has already generated 243.4 million streams, which is more than half already of 1989 (Taylor's Version) 's streaming numbers in its whole first-week cycle.
Luminate reported that the album might be on its way to dethrone Midnights as it continues to be streamed throughout the charting cycle. The Grammy-winning album earned the third-largest streaming week in music history, trailing behind two of Drake's biggest albums, Scorpion, with 745.92 million streams in 2018, and Certified Lover Boy in 2021, with 743.67 million.
