Lady Gaga is considered to be one of the most successful and biggest pop stars over the past decade, but like any other celebrity, she started with low-budget performances with few audience members before she amassed the fame that she has today. More recently, the musician reflected on her 2007 performance, now making rounds online amid the festival season.
In the afternoon of August 4, 2007, Lady Gaga & The Starlight Revue took the BMI Stage of the Lollapalooza Festival that year. At the time, the singer performed a few songs like "Blueberry Kisses," "Dirty Ice Cream," "Summerboy," "Fooled Me Again," and "Disco Heaven," a few of which appeared on her debut album The Fame released the following year.
At the time, the pop star was a nobody, and no one in the crowd knew how massive she would become in a year, as she launched in 2008 under Interscope Records.
Lady Gaga Reflects on Lollapalooza Performance
In a video now making rounds on social media, the musician, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, could be seen performing "Summer Boy" in front of a few people.
The singer donned a disco ball-like bra top, hot pants, tights, and heels. Back then, the musician had yet to launch her now-signature blonde wig, so she opted to wear her natural brunette hair.
Lady Gaga took to the comment section of the video to share some of the things the public didn't know about.
"I made that outfit myself--bought the mirrors at M & J trimmings and glued them on the bra. that was my mic. and my disco ball. i didnt have a lot and my dub plates skipped that day," she wrote. (via Lady Gaga Now)
Three years after her debut performance, Lady Gaga was announced as one of the headliners for Lollapalooza, and the event founder, Perry Farrell, even commissioned a custom stage for her.
Lady Gaga Got a Citation at Lollapalooza
Although it was a dream come true for the pop star to perform at Lollapalooza for the first time in 2007, an incident almost landed her behind bars later that day.
In a previous interview, she revealed that her fashion sense landed her in trouble as a policeman approached her.
"I was outside the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago and this policeman came up and told me my hotpants were too short. They weren't really pants at all, but he got upset and I got a citation," she said. (via NZ Herald)
