No Doubt fans hoping that their Coachella reunion would lead to more concerts are seemingly out of luck. Gwen Stefani is, once again, going solo as she has been announced as the headliner for a new music festival in Alabama.
The "Hollaback Girl" singer will be headlining the inaugural South Star Festival in Huntsville on September 28. She will be joined on the lineup by Blink-182, who will be headlining the festival on its second day, Variety reports. The complete roster is peak '90s nostalgia, also including acts like Beck, Shinedown, Jane's Addiction, Sublime, Goo Goo Dolls, Jimmy Eat World, TLC, and Ludacris.
While No Doubt made their triumphant return at Coachella this year, it seems that they will not be playing any further dates or releasing new music as a group. Their 16-song set at the festival was a highlight from both weekends, garnering massive acclaim online. During the first weekend, the band welcomed Olivia Rodrigo, who jumped in for a rendition of "Bathwater."
It was never explicitly stated that the band would be performing more following their Coachella reunion. However, many hoped that more than just attendees at the California-based music festival would hear songs like "Hella Good" and "Just A Girl" live once again.
Before their big set, Stefani stated that she was "unsure" about what their future was beyond the concerts in the desert. Although she did not specifically shut speculation down after saying she would be "open to anything."
"[Coachella is] going to be a really nice bow to tie on the relationship, because we were kids [when we met]," she told Nylon. "I already know what it's going to feel like because we're just so in sync when we're onstage. It's going to feel like riding a bike again. We're going to be laughing, and we're going to look at each other and go, 'Oh my gosh - there you are.'"
Now, it seems that Stefani might be going back to focusing on her solo career, as she continues to push towards her long-awaited fourth solo studio album. Last year, she teased that she was going to be putting out new music throughout 2024.
"I'm actually putting out music, so I'm excited about that," she said to Entertainment Tonight. "I've been working on this for a long time. I've finally landed in that place where I'm obsessed, where I can't stop listening, so I feel like I'm somewhere."
Aside from a short performance in October 2023, the band's Coachella appearance was their first performance as a group since they played a short festival run in 2015.
Other artists that are scheduled to play the South Star Festival include Juvenile and the 400 Degreez Band, Big Boi, Gin Blossoms, Pete Yorn, Candlebox, Vanessa Carlton, Winona Fighter, Bully, Dexter & Moonrocks, and Billy Allen + The Pollies.
Ticket presale will begin this Thursday, April 25 at 10 a.m. ET, ending at 10:40 a.m. ET. Prices will then increase once the pre-sale ends for the public on-sale. General admission, GA+, and VIP tickets are going to be available as the public on-sale begins, as well as the festival's platinum package.
