It seems like this is just what Billie Eilish was made for.
Fortnite announced its new Festival Season 3 featured artist is Grammy winner Billie Eilish. Her avatar -- or "skin," in Fortnite terms -- is a callback to her concert attire during her When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? era. Called the "Green Roots Billie Outfit," players can upgrade to a premium reward in order to unlock festival passes and the Billie skin, which faithfully recreates her oversized neon green tee with her name graffitied on it, as well as the matching neon green roots of her black pigtail buns.
The season, which runs through June 13, allows users to unlock new Eilish-themed outfits, instruments, and playable jam tracks including "All the Good Girls Go to Hell" from her first album, and "Therefore I Am" and "Happier Than Ever," from her second album of the same name. In the shop, players can purchase new emotes featuring her hits "Bad Guy" and "You Should See Me in a Crown."
The game does not give any current clues about music from Eilish's upcoming album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, which is due May 17. But Fortnite noted that a new outfit and jam track from Eilish's new album will be available later in Season 3.
Eilish, the youngest-ever two-time Oscar winner, posted an image of her Fortnite skin on X, formerly Twitter, but has not revealed more yet.
Fortnite's festivals have become a popular player option; its first two seasons featured The Weeknd in December 2023, and Lady Gaga in her Chromatica costumes, which was announced in February 2024.
Other musicians who have had Fortnite skins available in other parts of the game include Ariana Grande, Travis Scott, Bruno Mars, the Kid Laroi, J Balvin, and DJ Marshmellow, who hosted the first in-game Fortnite concert back in 2019. These celebrity skins allow players to take on the appearance of their favorite stars as characters within the game, and can be unlocked using Fortnite's in-game currency, V-Bucks, or by earning upgrades through various tasks or challenges.
One artist who has not yet been featured is Taylor Swift, though she made news this week by dropping "Fortnight" as her first single from her new double-album, The Tortured Poets Department. Fans immediately began begging for a Swift collaboration with Fortnite, but neither the artist nor the popular game has indicated any plans are in the works.
