Taylor Swift entered her new era of music with the release of The Tortured Poets Department and its surprise deluxe edition, The Anthology. The pop star continues to surprise her fans almost daily as she now comments about some of her songs from her latest project.
According to Page Six, Amazon Music listeners were in for a treat as the singer shared a commentary for five of her tracks from the new album, which she described as "very fatalistic."
Sharing her insight about her songs "Fortnight" featuring Post Malone and "My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys" without name-dropping any of her exes, the singer said she always imagined the first song took place in an "American town where the American Dream you thought would happen to you didn't."
Further explaining her collaborative track, she added: "You ended up not with the person you loved and now you have to just live with that every day, wondering what would've been, maybe seeing them out."
She acknowledged that the track was a "tragic concept," and it was her inspiration while writing it.
Taylor Swift Explains New Songs From 'TTPD'
For the other song, she revealed that it was a breakup song based on the perspective of a child's toy being somebody's favorite toy until they break it until it becomes useless.
"All of a sudden they break us, or they devalue us in their mind, and we're still clinging on to, 'No, no, no, you should've seen them the first time they saw me," she added.
She added that "My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys" was a track about denial in which a person can live, and they would still hope for a toxic and broken relationship.
Throughout her commentary, Swift refrained from name-dropping anyone despite fans theorizing that some songs were inspired by her exes, Joe Alwyn and The 1975 frontman Matty Healy.
She also never commented on the song "thanK you aIMee," which many people believe is a diss track about her feud with Kim Kardashian.
Kim Kardashian Remains Silent
Over the past few days, Kim Kardashian has continued to trend on social media, especially after Taylor Swift released the diss track.
The reality star sat down for an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, in which she never addressed any of the issues surrounding her and the pop star.
This came after it was reported that the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star lost hundreds of thousands of followers amid the song's release, and online users bombarded the comment section of her posts with the track's title.
