Jon Bon Jovi has been hailed as one of the best vocalists in the rock genre. However, his future in the music industry was once in question when he was faced with an insurmountable decision.

Jon Bon Jovi Confronts 'Devastating' Future For Touring

Bon Jovi opens up about his strained voice and how it impacted him in the new Hulu docuseries Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story.

Unbeknownst to many, he has been facing serious health issues in the past seven years while he embarked on a tour.

Thankfully, his wife, Dorothea, confronted him after seeing him struggle with his voice. She gave him a piece of tough love and told him: "It wasn't great, and I've seen you be great."

Bon Jovi recalls the conversation as "beyond heartbreaking" and "devastating," but he affirmed that "there's no one better than her to tell me the truth."

"If it were going to be over, I just had to wrap my arms around that and say, 'I've had an incredible career. It doesn't mean I can't write you a song tomorrow, just means I won't be doing a hundred-show tour," he added, as quoted by People magazine.

It was at this point that the frontman was faced with the decision to either seek professional help or retire.

"I went to the doctor and said, 'I've done everything I know how to do,'" he said.

Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story will be available to stream on Hulu starting April 26, 2024.
