A lot has happened since Katy Perry released Smile in 2020, and she assured that fans she's coming from a "different space now" as she prepares her next album.
This comes following her announcement that she's leaving American Idol to focus on making music.
Katy Perry Reveals New Album Inspiration
Speaking to Fox News Digital, Perry said, "I feel really happy and whole and loved, so that's different for an artist because usually you're writing songs out of pain," she said about her family life. "But I actually think that's kind of the biggest lie that any artist has been sold, is that you have to stay in pain in order to be a great creator."
According to the "Teenage Dream" singer, one can be "happy and have a life and have a family" and still contribute "really great things to the world."
"I think the music's going to be reflective of that love and joy," she teased.
Katy Perry Says She's Releasing 'One of Her Biggest Songs Ever'
As anticipation builds on Perry's new album, she revealed on Instagram that she's releasing "one of her biggest songs ever."
Perry says that she worked with pop artist Lu Kala on her new song. "She helped me write one of my biggest songs that has yet to come out but it's coming out," Perry told fans before telling the young artist to, "Don't say anything!"
Lu Kala was taken aback by Perry's support toward her, which she relayed on her social media post.
"I was not expecting any of this, wow," she said on the post. "Thank you @katyperry for letting me be the tiniest part of what you have coming. I can't wait for the world to hear it."
Perry's husband, actor Orlando Bloom, also talked about his wife's new music on television.
"Ah, yes, I better be careful about what I say," Bloom told Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb on Today. "There's a lot of cool things happening. But, essentially, there's a schedule. You can imagine, there's many moving parts to get us to do something like that."
