Billie Eilish got candid in a recent interview with Rolling Stone. The When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? singer spoke about coming to terms with her queerness, reflected on the role of celebrity in her life, reminisced on her 2019-self and detailed her masturbation routine.
She revealed that she likes to masturbate in front of a mirror. She deems it not only "hot" but also a way for her to have a "raw, deep connection to myself and my body, and have a love for my body that I have not really ever had."
"TMI, but self pleasure is an enormous, enormous part of my life, and a huge, huge help for me," she said. Eilish explained that literally getting in touch with herself helped to boost her confidence. Eilish has struggled with "extreme body issues and dysmorphia" throughout her "entire life."
She offered straightforward advice for those also fighting to embrace and love their body: "I got to say, looking at yourself in the mirror and thinking 'I look really good right now' is so helpful."
Eilish further detailed that the masturbator can "manufacture the situation" that they are in in order to "make sure you look good." When in control of their own pleasure, someone could feel more autonomy over themselves, which may help to boost their self esteem.
"I have learned that looking at myself and watching myself feel pleasure has been an extreme help in loving myself and accepting myself, and feeling empowered and comfortable," said Eilish.
"People should be jerking it, man," she quipped, encouraging Rolling Stone readers to indulge in self-pleasure.
"I should have a Ph.D. in masturbation," she concluded.
Eilish's comments on masturbation followed her saying that "[Sex] is my favorite topic." She explained that her "experience as a woman has been that it's seen in such a weird way. People are so uncomfortable talking about it, and weirded out when they are very comfortable in their sexuality."
She hopes to challenge the stigma surrounding women, sex and masturbation.
"I think it's such a frowned-upon thing to talk about, and I think that should change," she said. She also spoke about having sex with women, divulging that she realized about a year ago that she wanted her "face in a vagina." Eilish's upcoming album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, features a song called "Lunch," in which the "Bad Guy" singer sings that she "could eat that girl for lunch/And she dances on my tongue/Tastes like she might be the one."
Eilish came out last year, posting to Instagram "I like boys and girls leave me alone about it please literally who cares," following a red carpet interview with Variety where she mentioned being attracted to women. She had harsh words for Variety, writing "Thanks Variety for my award and also outing me on a red carpet at 11 a.m."
Of getting intimate, whether with oneself or another person, Eilish says:
"That sh-- can really, really save you sometimes."
