Colt Ford had an encouraging message for his fans, following his brush with death as a result of a heart attack he sustained on Apr. 4.
Speaking from his hospital bed Wednesday on social media, Ford said he was "grateful" for his friends, family, fiancee, and especially his loyal fans who are concerned about him following his frightening health scare. He also gave an update on his progress, and noted that he intends to return to the stage when he can.
"Thank you for all the prayers, the comments the love, the messages," he said. "I got a long way to go. But I promise you this old country boy will get back."
The singer went on to deliver the sad news that he probably won't be able to return to music and touring this year. "But I'm coming back. I am coming back. I just love you guys so much," he added.
Ford had previously canceled shows through Aug. 30.
The 53-year-old suffered the heart attack following a performance in Gilbert, Ariz. at Dierks Bentley's bar, Whiskey Row.
The "Drivin' Around Song" singer was moved to an intensive care unit at the Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Ariz. Colt and was later transferred to Scottsdale's Mayo Clinic.
He recently made an appearance, from his hospital bed, on the radio show Big D and Bubba, where he talked about his "traumatic, crazy" experience, and related that he died and was brought back to life by a trauma team not once, but twice.
"Apparently I played this great, sold out show, and it was incredible. I walked back to the bus, texted my financée 'Hi baby' and fell over dead," said Ford.
