Céline Dion looked back at the injury she sustained and endured while getting married to René Angélil.
Vogue released a video interview featuring Dion, who has been struggling with her stiff-person syndrome diagnosis. While talking about her health issue, the songstress also looked back at the time she wed Angélil and the injury caused by her headpiece - all in the name of fashion.
Céline Dion Opens Up About Her Wedding Day Injury
Dion donned a seven-pound headpiece on her wedding day, and it was filled with over 2,000 Swarovski crystals.
However, her special day did not end as glamorously as it had started.
"I had an immediate facelift," she told Vogue. "I start to walk, and I go like, 'Am I gonna make it? Am I going to make it to my future husband?' But like I said, I'm going to run to you. I did. So all night, all great, people happy, but when we removed the tiara, I had a cut, because the pressure was too much."
The "To Love You More" singer said she could manage the weight of the headpiece, saying "there's no weight, there's no problem, there's no pain" on her happiest day.
However, the morning after their wedding ceremony, she discovered a bump the size of an egg in the middle of her forehead.
Dion reportedly joked about Angélil having no choice about her appearance because they were married already. They soon consulted a doctor who prescribed her with antibiotics for three weeks.
Despite the injury, Dion told Vogue she would have worn something bigger if she could due to her love for her late husband.
"This is a moment that will be with me for the rest of my life," she said. "The dress couldn't have been big enough. I could've had three times the size on my head. I could've had six different dresses that night, because he was, and he still is such a wonderful human being. He brought [out] the best of me. He really did."
