Travis Kelce has reportedly signed a new two-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs worth $34.25 million, according to ESPN.
Kelce confirmed the new deal with a video posted on X in which he said it was "an honor and a pleasure and I can't wait to get after it these next two years ... Chiefs forever."
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes also celebrated on X, "I told yall I'll never let him leave!! Congrats my guy! @tkelce"
Earlier this month, Forbes reported that Swift had made its billionaires list. And this was before the record-setting streams and sales of her recently released new album, The Tortured Poets Department.
Kelce stands to rake in a heck of a lot of cash, with $14 million guaranteed for the upcoming season and the bulk of the rest of the payment coming in 2025.
However, Kelce's riches will still fall short of the fortune of his girlfriend, Taylor Swift.
Forbes first reported that Swift hit the billionaire mark in October 2023, estimating her net worth at $1.1 billion. At the time, the publication pointed out that her wealth was derived solely from songwriting and performing, not with such side hustles as endorsement deals, beauty brands, fashion lines, etc.) This fact put her in line with another musical billionaire who earned his wealth primarily from touring -- Bruce Springsteen.
As reported by Forbes, Swift made more than $500 million from touring and royalties. From the first leg of the Eras Tour alone, she reportedly made an estimated $190 million after taxes. She pulled in another $35 million from the two weeks of screening of her concert film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, which went on to become the biggest-grossing concert film in history.
And while Kelce is doing well for now, his NFL career won't likely last much beyond that two-year extension he just reportedly signed. Kelce, who like Swift was born in 1989, will turn 35 in October, and will likely soon join the list of the oldest active players in the NFL.
Of course, he's primed for a post-football career in Hollywood, having already hosted Saturday Night Live and appearing with his brother Jason on their podcast, New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce.
Still, Kelce's income is unlikely to ever reach Swift's level. There's no telling how long she plans to focus on her music career, but pop stars like Madonna, 65, and Mariah Carey, 55, have shown that they can still draw crowds years after their biggest pop hits, while the Rolling Stones, led by the 80-year-old Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, have shown that aging rockers can still fill stadiums.
