Wolfgang Van Halen, son of late iconic guitarist Eddie Van Halen, has revealed the collaboration of his dreams.

During a recent appearance on I Never Thought It Would Happen, a podcast hosted by Squeeze co-founder Chris Difford, Van Halen -- who previously played bass with his father's band and now helms his own project, Mammoth WVH -- was asked which musician he most would love to play with.

Van Halen pointed to his "really good friend," Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge. The singer and guitarist has also played with Slash.

"I think he is a wonderful human being and an incredibly talented singer and guitar player. I would jump at an opportunity to collaborate with him," said Van Halen.

"It would also be fun to collaborate with one of my biggest inspirations, Dave Grohl," he added. "I'm basically ripping him off with Mammoth and the way that he started with Foo Fighters."

"If he didn't exist, I wouldn't be where I was," he concluded.

Difford mused that Grohl would work with Van Halen "at the drop of a hat," to which the musician replied, "he's a wonderful dude."

Van Halen continued, saying that Mammoth WVH will be joining the Foo Fighters on their Everything Or Nothing At All tour.

"It all feels like a dream," he said of opening for the group.

Van Halen has written each song and played every recorded instrument across his band's two albums. In 2022, he was awarded the Grammy for Best Rock Song for "Distance," a track off of Mammoth WVH

"If you're doing all the instrumentation yourself, do you ever get pissed off with your parts?" asked Difford.

"No, because I guess that I would be the one to blame," replied Van Halen.

In a February interview, he revealed that he was in the preliminary stage of working on his third album, Mammoth III. Van Halen said that he was trying to "squeeze more time out and make [Mammoth III] a bit more comfortable than Mammoth II was."

"Do you co-write at all?" asked Difford. Van Halen replied that he has only worked with his producer.

"The closest I've ever come to co-writing was working with Mark Ronson on the Barbie soundtrack," he said. Van Halen appears on Ryan Gosling's cheeky number, "I'm Just Ken," which was nominated for an Academy Award.

Difford returned to the question of co-writing, asking if Van Halen would find it challenging.

"That's uncharted waters, and, you know, being the self-conscious, full of self-doubt sort of dude that I am, I would be very trepidatious and scared to do that," he replied.

However, he conceded that if the experience was with somebody he is "comfortable with, like Myles or Mr. Grohl, it would be a very exciting thing to try."
