The ongoing RICO trial involving Young Thug's YSL Records has reached an unprecedented length. It's now dubbed the longest trial in Georgia's history. Now the spotlight has shifted to rap icon Lil Wayne, who may hold pivotal evidence linking Thugger to a 2015 tour bus shooting.

Despite initial attempts by prosecutors to introduce social media posts as evidence of their tumultuous relationship, Judge Ural Glanville has mandated Lil Wayne's testimony for the evidence to be admissible.

Lil Wayne Must Testify in Court to Accept Evidence: Judge

According to Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Jozsef Papp, Judge Glanville denied Fulton County prosecutiors the opportunity to introduce social media posts of Lil Wayne talking about Young Thug as part of their evidence on the latter's YSL RICO trial.

"The state is telling Glanville they plan to introduce social media postings to show the relationship between Young Thug and Lil Wayne, through an investigator," Papp reported on X, formerly Twitter.

According to Papp, the prosecution wants to introduce new evidence, videos specifically, to show the conflict between the two rappers around the time when Lil Wayne's tour bus was shot at in 2015.

However, Judge Glanville denied the state's motion to introduce new evidence.

"It seems like you all are trying really hard not to call [Lil Wayne] and that's your choice," Glanville told Chief Deputy District Attorney Adriane Love. "If you don't call him, my ruling will stand on these particular exhibits that you are trying to introduce."

HipHopDX reported in January 2023 that Lil Wayne was included on the star-studded prosecution team's witness list for Young Thug's YSL RICO trial. However, HotNewHipHop reported in April that his name was notably struck out from the list.

What is Lil Wayne's Connection on Young Thug's YSL RICO Trial?

In May 2022, Young Thug was among the 28 associates of the alleged YSL Records (Young Slime Life Gang) indicted in a 56-count RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) Act indictment by the Fulton County District Attorney's office in Atlanta.

Since his 2022 arrest, Young Thug has been denied bond release several times because he reportedly held a commanding position in the alleged gang in Atlanta.

Lil Wayne's connection to Young Thug's trial stemmed from the 2015 shooting of his tour bus. Young Thug's affiliate, PeeWee Roscoe, was accused of the crime.

While he pleaded guilty to six of the 27 charges he was facing, Roscoe was sentenced to 10 years in prison and 10 years of probation. However, his conviction was overturned in 2018, AllHipHop reports.

Roscoe then entered an Alford plea for the two charges he faced. An Alford plea treats defendants guilty but allows them to maintain their innocence.

Papp reports that despite Judge Glanville's disapproval of Love's introduction of new evidence without having Lil Wayne testify, Love plans to introduce supplements to the court to allow the evidence to be entered without Lil Wayne's testimony.
