Lzzy Hale has revealed that coming out as bisexual has led LGBTQ+ youth to confide in her about their own sexuality.

The Halestorm singer and guitarist said that she was surprised at the reaction when she had posted on social media that she was "unapologetically bisexual." The post, where she describes her sexuality as a "superpower," seemingly came as a shock to many.

"At that point in time, my bandmates and my parents and everybody kind of knew, so I'm in my own bubble, and didn't realize that the majority of people out there, 95% have no idea. I was like, 'Oh, well, okay, I guess I'll have to be prepared to answer for that now.'"

The "I Miss the Misery" singer went on to say that, while she does prefer to keep some aspects of her life private, she enjoys being open about certain areas of her life. Sharing that she is proud to be bisexual has opened the doors for members of LGBTQ+ youth to reach out if they are struggling to come out.

"I get these amazing hugs from young people that come to our shows and they're trying to come out to their parents or they're afraid to. And I'm in a place in my life now where I can talk openly about all of these things and give something back," she told Metal Hammer.

Looking back on her own upbringing, the singer says that discovering rock was a "pivotal moment" for her after growing up in a Christian community. She was originally led to believe that the genre would lead listeners to "worship the devil" or "be a rebel." However, once she fully immersed herself in the music, many people in her life started to become concerned for her.

"It was something that I connected with in some unknown way, so I got obsessed with it. Family members, teachers, parents of friends, all noticed this change in me," Hale continued. "What frustrated me is that, instead of noticing that I have a change in character, as in maybe I'm more confident, maybe I actually have an idea of what I want to do in life, and that being celebrated, the majority of those people were very concerned. That made me start questioning, 'Why is something that I love and that I am passionate about evil just because you said so?'"

Now that she lives her life unapologetically, Hale continues to find massive success in the music industry. The Grammy-winner is currently filling in as lead singer for Skid Row.

After Erik Gronwall's abrupt exit from the band, Hale has been playing with the group for their recent tour dates. When she was asked if she would continue to play with the group beyond their current concert schedule, she teased that fans might be seeing more of her in the future.

"You never know. I will say something that most likely will happen is that these will not be the only four dates you ever hear. I will say that."
