Lady Gaga's father has revealed that he was attacked on the street in New York City earlier this week.
Joe Germanotta has shared that he "just got attacked outside of [his] church" but what appeared to be a "disturbed" person in the street.
"I was attacked," the "Bad Romance" singer's father said on Fox Business this week. "It was 7:30 in the morning, and I don't know whether he's homeless, he was a little disturbed, let's say that."
As the interview went on, the Joanne Trattoria owner shared that the man pushed down the church's pastor before he targeted him.
"He came after me. First, he pushed the pastor of the church. We were standing out in front and then he came down the stairs coming after me. I can't tell you what I did to him," he laughed.
The news anchor went on to ask if the attacker was possibly looking for money, which Germanotta said he did not give. As the city is frequently filled with people asking for money, he says that he regularly donates money to other New Yorkers.
"You know, and I'm very generous," he responded. "I usually give out $20 a day, alright?"
Further in the interview, DailyMail reports that he slammed New York City for high crime rates and unsafe conditions when it comes to dangerous bicycle and scooter users.
"There's probably enough scooters and bicycles on the sidewalk to expand your delivery zone to Connecticut," he went on. "They're everywhere, and they're buzzing around. You have to look both ways when you're walking down the street, because most of the time they're riding in both directions."
He has been a frequent critic of New York City politicians, blaming the democratic party for what he considers to be the downfall of the area.
"What's been so unsafe is a lot of people running around, just hanging out on corners, loitering," he complained. "The city's become unsafe in a couple of different ways, not just crime. Now there's chaos."
The admitted supporter of Donald Trump has been outspoken about his Republican standpoints, even revealing that he "begged" his daughter to not sing at Joe Biden's inauguration. The "Born This Way" singer performed the national anthem at the 2021 ceremony.
After the Grammy-winner doing some serious campaigning for the current president, Trump fired back at her on Twitter. The politician said that she "is not too good" and that he could tell you plenty of stories" about her.
Soon after Trump slammed the A Star Is Born star, her father Tweeted that he supported the 45th president. After several social media users commented on the contradiction, Germanotta responded to the criticism.
"You may have noticed my political and spiritual beliefs are different. Liberty and freedom of choice would not be political," he responded.
