Richie Sambora Shares Unfiltered Comment on 'Thank You, Goodnight: The Jon Bon Jovi Story'

In an interview with People, Sambora commented straightforwardly on Bon Jovi's new docuseries about his time with the band.

"It's his project and it's his perspective. I have a different perspective on all of that," he told the publication.

Sambora commented on the publication after the 11th Annual Unbridled Eve Kentucky Derby Gala at The Galt House Hotel on May 5, 2024, where he successfully auctioned a guitar off for charity for $32,000.

Notably, the docuseries contained interviews with Sambora, touching on his highly publicized departure from Bon Jovi.

Surprisingly, Bon Jovi revealed to the People that Sambora "came over" to his house and "watched three parts of the docuseries" with him, noting that "there's never animosity" between them.

He also added that "there was nothing but love" when the lead guitarist left the band for his daughter, Ava Sambora, following his divorce from his ex-wife, Heather Locklear.

"There was never a fight," Bon Jovi confirmed in another interview. "Ultimately being in a rock band is not a life sentence. He had to deal with his other issues."

Jon Bon Jovi Uninterested in Selling His Music

In an interview with Howard Stern, Bon Jovi was asked about his plans to sell his music in the future, similar to what Sambora did to his music.

"People sell their catalogs often, but it wasn't anything I'd ever considered," he simply said, noting that Sambora's decision to sell his music did not impact his thoughts on selling his part of the music catalog. "If it's a collaborative effort on any song, then his share of [the licensing fees] would go to whomever bought it," he added. "Mine is mine and, [for] anyone I've ever collaborated [with], theirs is theirs."

Bon Jovi even disclosed that many had approached him with offers to acquire his songs, but he's simply "not interested."
