Billie Eilish is gearing up for the release of her third album, Hit Me Hard and Soft. In preparation for the upcoming drop, Eilish has teamed up with American Express and Live Nation for two listening events in New York City and Los Angeles.
Fans cannot buy their way in to the listening parties, but rather can request up to two tickets for the event. Requests are due by 9 a.m. on May 7, with confirmations being sent out on Friday, May 10. Tickets are distributed through Ticketmaster. The site states that it does not give preference based upon when fans sign up, saying that "Requesting tickets early will not increase your chance of success.
As of mid-afternoon on Monday, May 6, over 50,000 users remained in the digital waiting line on Ticketmaster.
The New York City event will take place on May 15 at Brooklyn's Barclays Center, and the Los Angeles listening party will be hosted at the Kia Forum on May 16. The two shows are partnered with YouTube Music and Snapchat, respectively.
Eilish has hit the ground running this year. In March, she and brother Finneas won their second Oscar for their song "What Was I Made For?" from the Barbie soundtrack. The win made Eilish the youngest person with two Academy Awards under her belt.
She recently performed at Coachella alongside Lana Del Rey. The two sang Eilish's "Ocean Eyes" and Del Rey's "Video Games" to a massive crowd.
Eilish spoke to the audience during her performance, saying that Del Rey is "the reason for half you bitches' existence, including mine."
These upcoming listening parties will be some of the first glimpses of Eilish's third LP. The upcoming Hit Me Hard and Soft does not have any singles attached to it, something that Eilish addressed in an interview with Zach Sang. Her sophomore album, Happier Than Ever, had seven singles.
"I've never done no single, and it's fire. I've always wanted to do that. I hate singles. Oh my god! I hate them," exclaimed the popstar before previewing a brief snippet of "CHIHIRO" from the album. Eilish also teased the track "Lunch" at Coachella, and spoke about how the track, which is centered on a woman, helped her to better understand her sexuality.
Eilish begins the Hit Me Hard and Soft tour in September, which will take her through North America until December. She is set to take on a European leg next summer.
Some fans took issue with the various prices of tickets for Eilish's tour. Tickets range from $59.50 to a staggering $499.50, with several different price tiers in between.
Hit Me Hard and Soft releases on May 17.
