Camila Cabello's next album, C, XOXO, is due on June 28 she announced Monday (May 6) on Instagram, where she also shared the cover art.
The "Havana" singer, sporting blonde hair, is photographed licking a blue lollipop in the cover art, with her tongue stained blue from the candy.
The album's first single, "I Luv It," featuring Playboi Carti, was released on March 27, but failed to become a hit, stalling at No. 81 on Billboard's Hot 100. But Camila didn't give up on the track, she performed it during a surprise appearance during Lana De Rey's headline set on the second weekend of Coachella.
In an interview with Paper magazine, Cabello talked about the inspiration behind the song. "Certain things in our human realm do make me feel like I'm in outer space, and the very rare few times where I've had incredible chemistry with someone is one of them," she told the magazine. "Part of that cocktail is also the emotional drama between you and that person, and the chaos and butterflies and nerves and passion. It's unsustainable and not peaceful and exhausting, but also, I LUV IT."
Fan reaction to the announcement on Instagram was mixed. "Hopefully the other songs are better than what we got so far because I don't luv it," wrote one commenter.
Another wrote, "THE ALBUM OF THE SUMMER ALREADY."
A third opined, "The fakest rebrand ever."
While another posted, "Excited is an understatement."
The former member of the girl group Fifth Harmony launched her solo career with a bang. Her 2018 debut solo album, Camila, reached the top of the Billboard 200 and went platinum with sales of more than 1 million copies. It included the two No. 1 hits, "Havana" and "Senorita."
Her 2019 effort, Romance, peaked at No. 3 and was certified platinum, while 2022's Familia debuted and peaked at No. 10.
C, XOXO is Cabello's fourth album.
