Authorities have shared the latest development amid their investigation into the shooting outside Drake's mansion in Toronto that left a security guard seriously injured.

The shooting occurred on Tuesday, May 7, at 2 a.m., outside the rapper's home in the Bridle Path neighborhood of Toronto. Police were called to the intersection of Lawrence and Bayview Avenue, where they found the wounded security guard, who remains in serious condition.

NBC News reported that Drake was not hurt in the incident and the police probe to search for the suspect remains underway.

According to Inspector Paul Krawczyk of the Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force, the suspects were seen fleeing the scene in a vehicle. He did not disclose the number of individuals who might have been involved in the shooting.

"I can say that we've already collected some video evidence which captures the incident," Krawczyk said during the conference, as cited by RadarOnline.com.

Meanwhile, the video evidence is reportedly being analyzed as of press time.

The inspector also noted during the press conference that the motive was unclear and they weren't sure whether the security guard was the target. An increased police presence in the neighborhood has since been launched.

There have been theories that the shooting is related to Drake's feud with Kendrick Lamar, but Krawczyk refused to comment on whether that was a factor in the Toronto police investigation.

"I'm sure whatever happened here was captured on the security camera," area resident Kimberly told KTLA. "So that can unfortunately bring danger with it too."

In recent weeks, Drake has been embroiled in a heated exchange with Lamar. The two artists dropped diss tracks to attack each other.

They showed first signs of trouble in 2013 when Lamar called out Drake and other rappers through Big Sean's "Control." While Drake refused to take the bait, he later reopened the conflict through "First Person Shooter."

Their most recent feud happened when Drake released "The Heart Part 6" and posted an update on X in which he denied the allegations Lamar lobbed at him. He also said Lamar would be a "worthy competitor if [he] was really a predator."

Drake called the beef "a good exercise."

X users filled the comments section with messages to support Lamar. One said, "You should pack it up, kendrick won already."

"You should have just retired," a second wrote, while a third added, "BBL Drizzy finally decided to rap. Kendrick still winning tho."
