President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign have borrowed lyrics from Kendrick Lamar's "euphoria" for a recent diss against former president Donald Trump.
"Euphoria" is Lamar's six-minute second diss track in a series of musical attacks on fellow rapper Drake. The rappers have churned out seven songs in their month-long beef. Social media is flooded with memes and opinions on the situation. Artists like The Weeknd, Rick Ross and A$AP Rocky have also weighed in on the conflict, all siding with Lamar.
At the moment, Lamar is widely considered the winner of the feud after releasing the infectious "Not Like Us." On the bouncy club track, Lamar accuses Drake of being a deadbeat father, a pedophile and allowing his crew and record label, OVO, to commit sexual offenses. Drake clapped back with "The Heart Part 6," but failed to make the same impact as Lamar's diss.
Now, President Biden and his campaign are using Lamar's successful disses against their own competition: Trump.
The Biden-Harris HQ account, whose bio reads "Just the facts, Jack," posted the video to X. The account is the "official rapid response page of the Biden-Harris campaign." Most of the account's posts are serious updates about the president, with the occasional meme thrown in the mix. The clip is captioned with three emojis of a side profile yelling.
"It's always been about love and hate, now let me say I'm the biggest hater," reads the video as it flashes a smiling selfie of President Biden and the Vice President. The picture swipes into an unflattering photo of Trump wearing a Make America Great Again hat with overlaid text saying "I hate the way that you walk over women's rights."
The slideshow continues into another goofy shot of Trump, this time with the caption stating "the way you talk about immigrants." The video returns to Lamar's original lyrics with a photo of Trump dressed in formal wear, rapping "I hate the way that you dress." The final shot is of Trump using his cell phone with the lyrics "I hate the way that you sneak diss on truth social."
Responses to the post were mixed, with some finding it "cringe" while others found it "brilliant."
Interestingly enough, the video was posted on the @bidenhq TikTok account. President Biden and Congress have repatedly attacked the app, even passing legislation that has put the social media platform's fate in limbo.
In 2022, Biden signed the Consolidated Appropriations Act, which bars federal government employees from using TikTok on their agency-owned devices.
President Biden recently signed a bill that forces TikTok's parent company, ByteDance, to sell the app or face being banned in the United States.
TikTok and ByteDance have filed suit, arguing that restricting TikTok is a violation of the First Amendment.
