Kim Nam-joon a.k.a RM of BTS has delivered a dreamy, cinematic solo effort with the release of his single "Come Back to Me."

The track is accompanied by a six-minute music video, which was written, produced and directed by Lee Sung Jin, who wrote and created Beef. The Netflix hit earned eight wins at this year's Emmy Awards. Joseph Lee, who starred in the series, co-stars in the "Come Back to Me" music video alongside actress Kim Minha.

The "Come Back to Me" music video has reached nearly 4 million views and over 1.2 million likes as of Friday afternoon. As a collective, BTS boast impressive YouTube records. In 2021, the music video for their song "Butter" broke the record for most YouTube views in the first 24-hours of release.

"Come Back to Me" is described as capturing the "uncanny yet familiar sensation of feeling like a stranger in different surroundings, echoing the theme of the upcoming album." RM is set to release his sophomore album, Right Place, Wrong Person, on May 24.

Right Place, Wrong Person is an 11-track project that falls "within the alternative genre, boasting a rich sound coupled with frank, honest lyrics," per BTS' label, BIGHIT. The HYBE subsidiary described the album as capturing "some of the universal emotions that we all experience at some point in life, such as the feeling of being an outsider who doesn't fit in."

The "Come Back to Me" music video functions as a short film. RM meanders about different lives, starring as a discontent boyfriend and then later as a happily married father. At one point, the singer even sits inside a crib as an adult-baby while two parents dangle a toy in front of him, to which he responds by hiding under a blanket.

RM transitions from stone-faced and lonely to smiling alongside a woman. He transitions from dark hallways and dreary rooms into the neighborhood, where rays of sunlight fall.

The track is soft, smooth, leaning heavily into an acoustic guitar and some eclectic whispers. RM sings almost entirely in English, diving back into Korean for a phrase that translates to "It's a waste of time to wash my face." Leading into the line, he sings, "I forgot the hour/I don't wanna know 'bout the hour/I forgot to shower." The song is rife with sentimentality, with lyrics such as "I see you come back to me/You are my pain, divine, divine."

RM is currently serving in the South Korean military after enlisting in December. He and fellow BTS member V will be discharged on June 10, 2025. Jin, the group's oldest member, will be the first to end his service when October arrives. The group is currently on hiatus.

Right Place, Wrong Person is the BTS leader's second full length solo LP. Prior to Indigo, he released two mixtapes RM (2015) and Mono (2018.) With the release of RM in 2015, RM became the first BTS member to release a solo track. Since then, each member has released at least some form of solo project.
