It's been said that Taylor Swift appeals to fans of all ages, but some feel one fan went too far by apparently bringing their small child with them to an Eras Tour show in Paris.
The image of a toddler in the pit has created a firestorm of controversy on X, formerly Twitter, with many fans commenting that it's inappropriate. Others took the opportunity to crack jokes about the situation. (Ed note: We here at Music Times have taken to singing, "That's a toddler on the dancefloor" to the tune of Sophie Ellis-Bextor's "Murder on the Dancefloor.")
One concerned fan wrote, "I checked the arena rules & it doesn't have an age requirement but it's recommended not to bring anyone under the age of 4. Nevertheless, it's extremely negligent on the parents part to potentially harm that baby with hearing loss and the chaos of being on the floor with no seats."
Another responded, "bro? I was even in there and i got choked and trampled over and pushed and i had to be escorted through the line where all the security is by the stage to the back area of the floor area and i eventually went back but yea that's not."
Another commenter wrote, "Hot take but I don't think you should lay your literal baby down to sleep on the f---ing floor in the GA pit of a Taylor Swift concert. What the actual hell?"
"I feel like GA pit should have a age requirement! 16+ honestly, no matter if you are with a parent or not," another opined.
Another person responded, "I absolutely agree! I actually thought they had an age restriction of 14 and older for the European shows but I was there last night and there was a little boy in the pit there who was definitely not older than maybe 5 years old."
Still another added, "That looks incredibly irresponsible, but at least it looks like the baby has ear protection."
That prompted a response from another user. "That's what I said! They apparently don't mind putting their baby on an incredibly dirty pit floor and are ready to risk that their baby is stepped on by someone on accident but at least it has ear protection."
The controversy comes after the Astroworld tragedy in which 10 people were crushed to death in the crowd during a Travis Scott performance in 2021.
Doja Cat also recently weighed in on children attending concerts, writing on X, "i don't make music for children so leave your kids at home," along with some much saltier language.
