Hoda Kotb thought Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani called it quits after seeing a photo of Gavin Rossdale with his new girlfriend.
Rossdale started dating Xhoana X in 2023, though they have kept their relationship private. But after their photos from their recent trip to Mexico surfaced. Multiple news outlets have been comparing Xhoana X and Stefani due to their striking resemblance, and Kotb recently noticed it.
On Monday, May 13, Kotb shared her thoughts about Ross and his new girlfriend in an episode of Today With Hoda and Jenna.
"I thought, 'Poor Blake' -- that's what I thought for one second. They look exactly the same," she told co-host Jenna Bush Hager.
The 59-year-old added that Rossdale has a type, with Hager agreeing that the two women are indeed "identical."
"Most people have a type," Hotb continued, saying it would be "super weird" to see an ex date a look-alike. "That would be kinda weird -- the same thing. That's really interesting."
Fans took to X to share that they also thought Rossdale was with Stefani, though some criticized Xhoana X for reportedly being the "cheap" version of the No Doubt singer.
"So you cheated on Gwen and got a knock off version? Weird," one said.
A second wrote, "It's giving, 'Your new girl is my clone,'" while a third added, "Why is no one saying Gwen Stephony?"
Speaking on the "Not So Hollywood" podcast, Rossdale disclosed his current relationship with Stefani as they do not co-parent their kids.
"I think you can go one of two ways. You can either do everything together and really co-parent and see how that goes, or you can just parent. And I think we just parent," he said.
Rossdale previously told "Amy & T.J." podcast that their divorce was "a simple shame" in his life.
The ex-couple met in 1995 while their bands supported the Goo Goo Dolls. They started dating afterward and wed at St. Paul's Cathedral in London back in 2002.
However, their relationship hit a glitch when Rossdale fathered former singer Pearl Lowe's daughter Daisy. Still, they went on to welcome three kids during their 12-year marriage.
Rossdale and Stefani split in 2015, and the latter remarried in 2021 with Shelton.
