Childish Gambino fans were left astounded when he unexpectedly dropped his latest album, Atavista.
According to a tweet in X, formerly Twitter, the new album is the "finished version" of his 2020 album, 3.15.20.
"the album i put out 4 years ago. there's a special vinyl coming soon w/ visuals for each song," he announced before teasing that another new album will come out soon. "the all new childish gambino album comes out in the summer."
The surprises continued as Gambino unveiled the music video for "Little Big Foot," starring Emmy-winning actress Quinta Brunson.
As though the debut of his new album and music video weren't thrilling enough, Gambino further revealed the tour dates for his highly anticipated world tour. The tour will encompass performances across the United States, Canada, Europe, New Zealand, and Australia.
Check out the tour dates below.
Fans were surprised with the surprise announcement and could not contain the excitement on social media.
"Ima say this once and I dont care who sees. You're a creative genius and my biggest inspiration to making music and being unafraid. Cudi is a therapist. Kendrick is the conscious voice. You sir are the performing arts teacher that inspires his students. Salute. I don't care 4 h8," a user raved on X.
"always felt like the album deserved more attention hopefully it does now," another tweeted.
"This version is so good, but I hope the original gets put back on someday because it has a completely different vibe to the new, complete version, Atavista. It's dystopian, interconnected and utterly destructive in all the right ways. Seeing the transformation is beautiful," another hopeful fan pleaded online.
On Spotify, Gambino removed the album 3.15.20, while on Apple Music, only a song titled "3.15.20" is up for streaming, and it's 57 minutes long.
"I just wanna say thank you, cuz I love you! But also please put the og 3.15.20 back on streaming so I can hear Shock again (and release the other atavista version too)," a fan asked.
"This is really amazing. Making a great album sound great twice in a row. I just really wish he kept the OGs they are their own type of distorted good," another shared.
