Music journalist Touré claimed that Justin Timberlake's fans have "retired" him after experiencing a dismal album debut and poor ticket sales for his upcoming tour.
Speaking to News Nation, Touré claimed that Timberlake's poor performance in his supposed huge comeback was caused by his fans.
"A six-year break from your mid-thirties to your early forties is a really long time (for an artist)," he said. "Most of (Timberlake's) fans have aged out of caring about him. It's like the old saying goes, 'You don't retire - the audience retires you.'"
Timberlake's Everything I Thought It Was only opened at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with 67,000 album-equivalent units. The album also received lukewarm reviews from critics and fans of the NSYNC singer.
However, his album release was marked with controversy as his ex-girlfriend, Britney Spears, released The Woman In Me memoir containing scathing allegations against Timberlake. In the memoir, Spears alleged Timberlake of multiple cheating incidents and also forced her to get an abortion when he got her pregnant.

"I'm sure people will hate me for this, but I agreed not to have the baby. I don't know if that was the right decision," Spears wrote. "If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn't want to be a father."
Spears did apologize for the book's honesty, revealing that she didn't mean to hurt anyone. However, Timberlake showed animosity in his response, saying he'd "like to take this opportunity to apologize-to absolutely f-ing nobody."
Public opinion turned against Timberlake, and he received heavy media scrutiny and backlash for his alleged actions.
Conversations on Timberlake's behavior and character have since affected the sales for his ongoing world tour, The Forget Tomorrow Tour. Ticketmaster reported that Timberlake canceled his show in Columbia, South Carolina.
The New York Post reported that Timberlake is "experiencing lackluster sales." Tickets are still available in all sections in almost every city, with the highest priced at $900, as opposed to the expected sold-out shows he would have.
