Tyrese Gibson left a concert early over the weekend in a surprise move that caught fans off guard.
The 45-year-old actor and singer, currently embroiled in legal issues with his ex-wife Norma Mitchell, was onstage with Eric Benet at the Stockbridge Amphitheater, located 20 miles south of Atlanta, when he decided to end his performance early.
Recently, a video emerged showcasing Gibson leaving an event hastily while belting out a tune as he walked away.
According to a TMZ report, the reasons behind his sudden departure were revealed. A security guard approached him and discreetly shared important information with him.
The outlet reported that Gibson was informed that legal documents were awaiting his attention. These documents pertain to a lawsuit filed by filmmaker Bryan Barber for alleged defamation and libel, seeking $10 million in damages.
During the concert footage, Gibson is captured performing on stage, interrupted by a security guard who approaches and discreetly communicates with the "How You Gonna Act Like That" hitmaker.
Without missing a beat, he adjusted the microphone stand, gracefully made his way off the stage, and headed up the stairs while still singing.
Addressing the audience, he mumbled a few incomprehensible words before expressing his affection multiple times, then suddenly departed. Allegedly, Gibson had three more songs to perform but abruptly left the stage upon being notified by a security guard that legal documents awaited him.
The following day, the LA native surprised fans by sharing a video from the concert on his Instagram account.
He revealed that he had considered canceling the show but decided to push through, although he did not mention leaving early.
"Special day, two hours before the show I was going to cancel because my heart was so heavy. I just didn't think I could get through it......." Gibson started.
"I all the genuine love and energy and the audience and just want to thank you guys for showing up tonight Bet you're my brother from another mother you are incredible!"
"'I'm ready to do a Tyrese and Eric Benet tour..... I think that would be GROWN and SEXY beyond special."
Barber, a documentary filmmaker, took legal action against Gibson following remarks made by Gibson during an appearance on The Breakfast Club on September 7. Barber alleged that Gibson's accusations regarding the footage he filmed for $35K and his refusal to return it damaged his character and reputation.
Barber alleged that he and Gibson had originally established a mutual agreement to divide revenues equally.
However, Gibson revoked the agreement at a certain juncture, prompting Barber to pursue $10 million in compensation for the harm inflicted on his reputation by Gibson's actions.
