Swifties could not help but assume that Taylor Swift will be conquering Broadway soon.
Swift surprised her fans with a newly added Eras Tour set following the release of her album, The Tortured Poets Department. She called it "Female Rage: The Musical," and her TAS Rights Management company has since filed an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to trademark the term.
The office has since accepted the application, but an examining attorney has not been assigned to process the request.
Although the "So Long, London" singer did not disclose the reason behind her move, her fans assumed it could be her first step toward her EGOT status as she reportedly could debut a Broadway musical soon.
Swifties took to Reddit to share their thoughts about what the phrase and Swift's trademark application could mean.
One wrote, "Need her to make a broadway musical based on the album and then win a Tony."
"EGOT!!! EGOT!!!!" a second said, while a third user added, "I am wholeheartedly against jukebox musicals but...well...everyone else is doing it, Taylor might as well get on the bandwagon. I would 100% go to a Broadway version of a TS show."
On the other hand, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office revealed that the application seeks the right to use "Female Rage: The Musical" "in relation to musical sound recordings, jewelry, clothing, live performances and additional merchandise."
Swift had made a similar move before the release of new batches of her merch.
The Tortured Poets Department singer is halfway to getting her EGOT status.
Swift has received several Grammys over the years, and she nabbed her first-ever Emmy in 2015 for Outstanding Creative Achievement In Interactive Media-Original Interactive Program.
She has yet to receive an Oscar for any original movie-related song. However, rumors recently surfaced as fans assumed she would be part of Deadpool & Wolverine.
In another Reddit post, a user asked fans whether Swift could achieve the EGOT status. Most users suggested she mainly do music and follow in John Legend's footsteps.
Currently, the musicians who have scored their EGOT achievement include Legend, Elton John, Jennifer Hudson, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Alan Menken, Robert Lopez, Marvin Hamlisch and Jonathan Tuni
