Late on Tuesday afternoon, a drive-by shooter fired off a series of rounds while a set was being prepped to film a music video for rapper Lil Baby. The incident occurred in the Verbena Street area of northwest Atlanta.
One man was shot in the back, another in the arm. and a final victim was shot in the neck. All three were hospitalized after the incident but are reported to be "alert, conscious and breathing," per FOX5.
A representative for the Atlanta native claims that Lil Baby and his production crew were not involved in the shooting. There were reportedly dozens of staffers and crew members setting up when shots first rang out.
Major Ralph Woolfolk, a local police spokesman, detailed that "The people who were shot were not part of the video production team but there may have been individuals involved in the totality of the production."
A calm video filmed from down the street shows the crew working on the video set, but things suddenly turn to chaos as a car arrives and gun shots can be heard. A gun fires off loud rounds continuously for over five seconds before pausing.
During this pause, the cameraman questions what happened, saying "What the f--."'
"Where he at?" he asks. Another man says that the shooter is gone while the cameraman asks "who the f-- was that?"
A man is then seen walking down the street with a gun in his hand.
All of a sudden, the shooter opens fire again for several seconds, pauses, and then continues to shoot. Gunshots can be heard repeatedly throughout the two-and-a-half minute video. As shots ring out, the cameraman ducks, obscuring the view of the set and street. His companion tells him to duck down like they "do in the military."
"Somebody in a white car," says the camera man, apparently identifying the shooter's vehicle.
The investigation is still pending. No suspect or motive has been announced. Lil Baby has not made a comment concerning the event.
Prior to the shooting, Lil Baby was spotted at a local taco joint, Slapping Tacos ATL. The restaurant shared a video of the rapper's visit on Instagram earlier on Tuesday. The taco shop was then forced to close due to the shooting.
"Lil baby was about to buy all the food," said a representative of Slapping Taco ATL, denouncing the "hoodlums" that "came and ruined my day."
Another employee, Chastity Roman, claimed to be delivering a burrito when she "fell in between the bullets. It was nothing but bullets, pow pow pow! It was terrible."
This isn't Lil Baby's first run-in with an unexpected shooting. In September, a man was hospitalized after being shot at a Lil Baby concert in Memphis, TN. The rapper was pulled off stage and the show was brought to a halt. The shooter, who was later arrested, was identified as 22-year-old Kevin Young.
