Amid the backlash and harsh criticism that she had received on social media after her workplace abuse allegations came to light, Lizzo is stepping out and voicing her support for activists who are advocating for the welfare of marginalized countries like Palestine, Congo, and Sudan.

In an Instagram video she shared, the "About Damn Time" singer bravely spoke out about pressing social issues.

"I just want to take a second and give a personal thank you to all of the activists who have been working tirelessly to help the liberation and the freedom of the people who have been genocided all over the world, specifically Palestine, Sudan and the Congo," she stressed out in her video.

According to the singer, she has worked "closely" with activists, so she knows the "toll" it could take on someone's mental and physical health.

"It can feel thankless so if you have not heard it today, thank you. Your work is not in vain. You have helped so many people, you have saved literal lives and, on a personal note, you have activated me," she added.

Lizzo pointed out that over the last year, she fell into a "deep, dark depression" and claimed that she had "some mental health crises and episodes." This has left the embattled singer in an "emotional state" where she could "not process or handle anything."

"I'm not saying this to make excuses, nor do I want sympathy. I just haven't been able to be transparent with y'all in a long time. This has been weighing on my heart to share with y'all. The people in my life who love and care about me, they helped me get out of this dark space," she elaborated.

Meanwhile, people on social media expressed sympathy for the singer after her change of heart, albeit a "late" expression of support.

"Well at least she's doing something right for once. I hope she's being genuine abt it and isn't doing it just so she can get ppl to like her again lol," one pointed out on Reddit.

"It's so sad to me how Lizzo and Brittany broski are just now just using their platform for good, like they had to be shamed into it," a user added.

Lizzo's video came months after intensified criticism from social media after she was sued by three of her former dancers while on tour. They have alleged weight-shaming, sexual harassment, and creating a hostile working environment during the Special World Tour.
