Sean "Diddy" Combs released a video on social media Sunday morning (May 19) in which he admitted to assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in a hotel hallway.in 2016.

Calliing his actions "inexcusable," Combs apologized for the incident, saying he was "truly sorry."

"I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I was disgusted then when I did it. I'm disgusted now," he noted.

"It's so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that. I was f---ed up. I mean, I hit rock bottom. But I make no excuses," Combs continued, stating that he has since committed to being a "better man each and every day" and that he has been "going to therapy and rehab" following the incident.

The confession comes in the wake of following the release of 2016 footage obtained and posted by CNN on Friday. According to the outlet, the incident occurred on March 5, 2016, at the InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Calif., which has since closed during the COVID pandemic. The pair were photographed together just two days later at the Los Angeles premiere of the film A Perfect Match.

In the video, Ventura is seen leaving a hotel room and walking towards the elevators. She's then chased down the hallway by Combs, who is clad in nothing but a bath towel he's holding around his waist. Combs then grabs Ventura by the neck and pushes her to the floor and then kicks her several times, dragging her down the hall by her shirt.

Ventura previously sued Combs for assault, but the two reached an undisclosed settlement days later. She declined to comment on the video to CNN.

However, her attorney, Douglas H. Wigdor, said in a statement sent to Music Times, "The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light."

In addition to Ventura's lawsuit, Combs has four additional sexual misconduct lawsuits filed against him. He has denied all allegations.

In March, Combs' Los Angeles and Miami homes were raided by federal agents, reportedly in connection with a sex trafficking investigation.
